Deception Pass Elopement at Rosario Beach | Aiko & Jason

I have been dreaming of shooting Deception Pass elopement photos or an adventurous session up in Anacortes, Washington, for about as long as I’ve lived here now. Anacortes and the Deception Pass area are within an hour and a half of Seattle and you would never know it is all so close to the big city for its wildness. If you’ve been following me a while you know how much I love getting out and adventuring in new places, and capturing couples in the midst of so much natural beauty. I had a vision of a couple standing on a cliff overlooking water, and this day made my dreams come true.

We had the most perfect day for the shoot you could imagine. The morning skies dumped rain, but by the time we reached our Deception Pass location at Rosario Beach, the rain was holding off. We had the most beautiful cloud cover, making for the most amazing pastel-colored sunset. As we were leaving, the drops started coming down again. It was like the heavens parted just for this adventurous elopement shoot. YASSS.

I collaborated with Verbena Floral Seattle to create a simple but stunning pink and green floral arrangement, perfect for an adventurous spring elopement shoot in Anacortes. Aiko and Jason—who by the way met in middle school and got together a few years later and are just about the cutest couple ever—were my cheerful and willing models. Aiko did her own makeup and found the most perfect lacy boho-esque wedding dress, and Jason donned one of his gray suits, and it was on. They scaled rocks, stood on the edge of cliffs, and danced around together in the grass all for the love of candid, intimate, and fun portraits in the midst of so much Pacific Northwest beauty.

Above all, I wanted this shoot to capture equally the unique and vast beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the real love and connection between the couple in front of my camera. I wanted to inspire all my future couples to adventure out somewhere beautiful and create portraits something like this. I think together we brought that vision to life.
