Traditionally, Indian weddings are enormous, multi-day events, sometimes incorporating multiple traditional ceremonies, and usually a very long guest list. However, Rosemina and Nader wanted something much smaller and less traditional. They chose to have an intimate backyard Indian wedding in the Albuquerque foothills.
The Backyard Indian Wedding
The couple invited only 25 of their closest friends and family. Some guests were local, and some, like the bride’s parents, traveled all the way from India. Everyone gathered in traditional Indian wedding attire in the home and backyard of the groom’s sister. Rosemina had a grand bridal entrance with everyone waiting at the front door. They had Indian food catering, and decorated the home with bright colors. It was a lovely balance of honoring their Indian roots and including their families while also sticking to their priority to keep it small and simple.
Sunset Wedding Photos in the Albuquerque Foothills
Rosemina and Nader’s top priority was wedding portraits at sunset. So, as golden hour was in full swing, we took a jaunt up the road to the foothills of Albuquerque to give them the sunkissed wedding portraits of their dreams. I loved the way Rosemina’s lehenga sparkled in the New Mexico sun, her henna showing in lovely contrast, and Nader’s turban completed the traditional Indian wedding look.
