Winter Family Portraits at Gold Creek Pond

Winter Family Portraits at Gold Creek Pond

I really think every family should have at least one snowy winter portrait session. Not only are they perfect to use for Christmas cards, but the snow makes for one of the best natural props. Just think of it—the kids can run around and throw snowballs, make snow angels, and catch snowflakes on their tongues and eyelashes. CUTE, right? On top of that, I don’t know that there is anything much more adorable than a family all bundled up in cozy hats and scarves, huddling together for warmth. Bonus points if you have hot cocoa to warm up your hands and tummies.

And last of all, as a photographer I love the snow because it’s a natural reflector, meaning it creates the most flattering, even lighting for portraits.

Like I said, everyone needs one of these sessions ;)

Kim, the beautiful mama of these adorable kiddos, graduated with me from high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Around the time we moved up to the Seattle area, she and her family moved to the Portland area. Two former desert-dwellers now living in the wet land of the Pacific Northwest. Such a small world we live in! She reached out to me at the beginning of the winter hoping for an iconic winter family portrait session, and together we planned out this fun day in the snow among the mountains of the Snoqualmie Pass. They drove all the way from Portland to my favorite snowy location at Gold Creek Pond. Now that is dedication to documenting your family. I LOVE it. And I can’t wait to capture this sweet family again!
