Hannah and Alec searched high and low for the perfect venue for their wedding. They wanted something scenic and outdoors, preferably surrounded by trees and mountains, and they wanted to be able to host family and the wedding party for the weekend. They ultimately stumbled upon this little gem of a private cabin tucked off the highway between Telluride and Dolores. It was absolutely perfect.
If you know anything about Telluride, you know that it is one of the best mountain towns in Colorado, and that the San Juan Mountains are some of the most epic and beautiful mountains you’ll ever see. Hannah and Alec’s wedding ceremony took place in a field above the Dolores River. The summer wildflowers were just starting to pop up, and the grass and trees all around were a lush spring green. It was the most classic and beautiful Telluride wedding!
Many of the details for this wedding were simple, embracing the natural beauty of their surroundings. The ladies wore forest green dresses, and the men wore light gray suits. They had bouquets and boutonnieres of soft pastel colors, to stand out against all the green like wildflowers. The rest of the decor included more dark green and white silk florals paired with details like pine cones and natural wood. Other than the florals, all the other decor elements were very DIY. If you can believe it–a friend did the cake, and it tasted even better than it looks.
We had so much fun with the portraits for this mountain wedding. Hannah and her bridesmaids frolicked through the sunlit fields like true forest nymphs, and we staged one photo with Hannah posing like a Greek goddess surrounded by her subjects. I can’t even take credit for the idea, that was all Hannah, but it sure made the mountain forest theme that much better.
I hope these photos and all the cute Colorado mountain details serve as inspiration for anyone hoping to have a Telluride wedding!
