The southwest aesthetic is really big right now. Everywhere you look on Pinterest you’ll find Aztec patterns and boho dresses and golden desert tones. The funny thing about that to me is that I’ve grown up with this style my entire life, and never thought much about it. Then, after living a few years away from home and witnessing this style blowing up with the Instagram influencers and fashion bloggers, I’ve become more protective of it. I get why it has become super trendy. It’s warm and inviting and unique. But it’s not just a trend to me. This is our way in New Mexico.
With me recently moving back to my home state of New Mexico, I had this idea of styling an elopement that shows off all the things I love about this state and our style. I was thinking something like Georgia O’Keeffe meets romantic weddings in the desert. So I got together with my friends Charlotte and Ryan, and we took off on an adventure into the Jemez Red Rocks for the ultimate southwest boho styled elopement. Charlotte wore a flowing, lacy black dress with a brimmed southwestern hat and a turquoise bracelet. She carried a bouquet from Florecita Flowers that had all the colors of the desert in the fall. Ryan kept things simple with slacks and a button-up shirt, really letting Charlotte shine.
This gorgeous couple against the backdrop of the Jemez red rocks was everything I dreamed of. If you’re looking for all the southwest boho vibes for inspiration for your own New Mexico elopement or wedding, look no further.
