I am long overdue to share the images from Katie and Jake’s beautiful wedding day on the blog. They got married on a perfect sunny September day, at the foot of the stunning Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley, Washington, surrounded by all their closest friends and family.
As the girls got dolled up on one side of the lodge, the guys dressed and smoked cigars on the other. When Katie slipped her dress on, tears were in her eyes and reflected in everyone else’s as they took her in. She took a moment, and then walked outside, excited to get her first look with Jake.
They said their vows under the beating sun—a welcome weather alternative to rain—and then the party started. One of my favorite parts of weddings is getting to witness not only two people coming together, but two families. It warms my heart to see things like the mother of the bride and mother of the groom sharing a laugh over some ice cream. (Did I mention they had an ice cream bar in lieu of cake? Perfect for a hot summer wedding!) I can’t help but smile behind the camera as family members stand up and welcome their new family in with open arms.
That warmth radiated at this wedding, from beginning to end. I hope when they look at their wedding album years from now, they will still feel that warmth and remember the happiness of this day. Much love to you, Katie and Jake! Thank you for trusting me to capture the essence of your beautiful wedding day.
