Cris and Martin are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet, and it’s no surprise that when you put them together you find a deeply devoted and connected couple. With Cris being from Brazil and Martin being from Sweden, it was fate that they should meet and fall in love here in Washington.
Cris and Martin married at Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands on an incredibly rainy November day. I’m talking no breaks in the rain, just a constant downpour—unusual even for Washington. But they say rain on your wedding day is good luck, right? The bride and groom were never swayed by the weather. Both ceremony and reception were tucked inside the beautiful hall with a fireplace burning in the middle of the room. The cake stood next to the bridal table in front of a beautiful uplit backdrop and was topped with a silhouette figure of a couple kissing with their two dogs at their side—a perfect rendering of some of the pictures I took for their engagement! They had a laptop set up with a livestream of the entire wedding for Cris’s family in Brazil. Her parents and a handful of other family members were all present, and it was with tears in her eyes that Cris commented how happy she was that her marriage brought them finally to see her in her new home in the US.
It was truly a celebration of the coming together not only of these two special individuals, but their diverse families as well. The ceremony and speeches were all translated into both English and Portuguese, there were homemade desserts from both countries, and people from either side danced across the floor together like they’d all been family all along.
It was a beautiful, intimate, super fun wedding, and while I’m sure it went super fast for the newlyweds, they will cherish these memories forever.
xoxo
