The idea behind this editorial wedding shoot started with a vision of colorful catering. A whole bunch of creatives and wedding lovers got together and let our love of bright, summery vibes run wild at Casa Perea Art Space in Corrales. We stayed out until the sun went down and watched the Sandia Mountains turn watermelon pink. It was gloriously fun.
Design Inspiration
The theme was bright colors fit for a summer wedding in the tropics–or in this case, tucked in a New Mexico desert oasis at Casa Perea Art Space. With turquoise table runners, bright pink florals, a turquoise and yellow cake, and invitation suite to match, the details were so bold and fun.
Casa Perea Art Space Wedding Venue
The wedding venue at Casa Perea Art Space was perfect for this vision of a colorful summer wedding shoot. The outdoor seating space is covered in lush green vines with orange blossoms. The architecture of the building is iconic New Mexico adobe style. The property features a lovely vineyard and flowering plants everywhere. Towards sunset the whole property just glows with golden light, and you get a nice view of the Sandias. It is a perfect venue for an intimate New Mexico wedding.
Mila’s Mesa Catering
Mila’s Mesa prepared the most beautiful and delicious 3-course assortment of dishes to be served for a summer wedding. The food was just as bright and bold as the color scheme. And the drinks–purple cocktails with Pisco, blue corn, chile, topped with purple flowers–were the perfect match. For dessert, there was a selection of biscochitos, mini fruit tarts (passionfruit and prickly pear) and of course the fabulous and colorful wedding cake by Pretty n Baked.
Mila’s Mesa is truly unique in that they offer onsite cooking, so your food is guaranteed to be absolutely fresh and amazing. Plus, they believe that food should be art, always giving you a beautiful presentation.
Bride & Groom Portraits
Of course, my favorite part of most wedding days is doing the bride and groom portraits at sunset. We took full advantage of golden hour and wandered the grounds of Casa Perea Art Space creating the best wedding portraits. Brenda and Thomas are in fact a real couple and SO cute together. They wore attire from Bridal Elegance and Mr. Tux, two of the best places in Albuquerque to buy or rent a wedding dress and tux. Brenda’s hair and makeup was by the wonderful Betty Rose and she looked stunning all evening.
