Janelle and Brendan met seven years ago, when Janelle had her first day at her new job at the Denver Jet Center at Centennial Airport. Brendan was instantly infatuated with this beautiful brunette who walked into work that day. He took extra care to help her transition into her new position, helping her as much as he could, hoping she would notice him. They spent two weeks small talking about airplanes and football at work, until Brendan finally asked Janelle on a real date.
They kept their relationship secret from everyone they worked with at the beginning, but both of them say they probably didn’t do a very good job hiding their interest in each other. “Our little secret!” Janelle says. “When no one was around he would sometimes sneak me a kiss.” *cue me dying of cuteness*
Eventually, they made things official. They ended up moving in together, coparenting the cutest dog Kona, and one Christmas Brendan popped the question. As they were rushing around the house getting ready to head out and visit family, Janelle walked around a corner and there Brendan was with a ring.
They knew from then that they wanted a classy winter wedding. Janelle told me: “We knew we wanted our reception venue to have holiday decorations up before we even picked our date. We started planning our décor and vision around how it would look with Christmas trees, ornaments, wreaths, and white lights. We were hoping for a light snow, so the ground and trees would be frosted and beautiful. Burgundy and gold was a natural color selection for our vision, embracing elements of both Christmas and New Year’s.”
This vision came to life even better than Janelle or Brendan could have imagined.
Janelle tells the story of their winter wedding at Arrowhead Golf Club the best:
“The days leading up to the wedding, Brendan and I had been anxiously checking the weather reports. The projected snow total for December 28th kept increasing. Most of our out-of-town guests had thankfully already made it into town. That morning we woke up to 3 inches of snow on the ground with more on the way! It was a true winter wonderland. We were relieved that all of our guests and vendors arrived safely. Brendan and I had our first look and read our vows outside in the church garden with the perfect snow covered back drop. The wedding ceremony was gorgeous. The church was decorated with red flowers and large snowflakes were falling outside the windows.
After the ceremony, Brendan and I drove to the reception together. It was really nice to have that alone time with him. The roads were getting slick, so we had to talk it slow. As soon as we arrived at Arrowhead Golf Club, we went outside to take our couple pictures before sunset. We had such a fun time taking pictures in the snow. Arrowhead’s signature red rocks behind us. We even had a few deer make an appearance in the distance. It was a very romantic and magical moment.
Once we had completed our formal pictures, we went inside and were greeted with cocktails and hugs. That warmed us right up! The reception went so smoothly and we couldn’t have been happier. All of the speeches were so thoughtful. We are grateful for all of the love we received. We had a wonderful time celebrating and dancing the night away with all of our friends and family.”
Seriously, these two are the absolute cutest. They didn’t let the snow stop them from having a good time. In fact, they willingly tromped through the snow in their dress shoes just to make sure we got some iconic Arrowhead Golf Club winter wedding photos with the red rocks in the background and the snow still falling.
