Volunteer Park Engagement Portraits | Ambika & Kartik

Ambika and Kartik met about a year ago in India. While Ambika currently lives in New Delhi and Kartik in Seattle, they have been doing the long distance thing basically since they met. And when I’m talking distance, I’m talking LONG. DISTANCE. I tip my hat to them communicating from across the globe! Whew.

When you know you know though, right? (Isn’t that a mouthful?) Ambika told me about Kartik’s proposal just last month and it is swoon-worthy, involving a trip to Orlando and Harry Potter World, and many candles upon their return. How amazing is that? So then they contacted me for a last-minute engagement session before the two of them were to leave for India later that same week. That is where they are getting married this summer, and they won’t be back in town together until afterward, but they wanted to capture their engagement portraits here in Seattle.

How often have I gotten that comment, anyway? Seattle is such a beautiful place with so much to offer that people come from all over and want to record their time together here well. We decided to take advantage of the season and first capture images in one of the most beautiful parks in Seattle, Volunteer Park. Then we had to follow that up of course with some waterfront photos, which we took on a dock on Lake Union. I just love that when you ask for a very PNW or Seattle-like session, you could include a wide variety of locations that all still scream SEATTLE.

Trees? Check. Spring blooms? Check. Water? Check. Boats? Check. Nailed it.

But, of course, the most important thing we want to come across in all engagement sessions is that giddy, I-can’t-believe-we’re-planning-a-wedding, getting-married kind of love. I think we more than managed that here ;) Ambika and Kartik were such a fun couple, I barely had to do anything at all.
