This winter wedding at The Lodge at Breckenridge. I will never forget it. It was a brisk, 5-degree day. Fresh snow from the day before blanketed all the mountains. Standing in the shade, the chill took over your fingers and toes in a matter of seconds. It was the kind of day regular people would not dream of having an outdoor ceremony. But these two had a fluffy blanket for every single one of their guests. They had coffee and hot chocolate (and the cutest personalized coffee cups to commemorate their Breckenridge, Colorado wedding) to keep everyone’s hands warm. They stood in the sunshine in front of those frosted Rocky Mountains, heat lamps glowing nearby, and said their vows in front of everyone they loved (including their adorable dogs.) Not a single guest complained, but there were some tears shed. It was one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.
Not only were the people wonderful—so many long, moving speeches, and cheers from one side of the family to the other—but the details of this gorgeous winter wedding day were superb. The fur shrugs the ladies wore were classy, and so necessary to deal with the cold. I fell in love with the tiny pine cones in the flower arrangements. I loved the evergreen and burgundy colors, so fitting for the week between Christmas and New Year’s. The signs, the cozy blankets, the personalized coffee cups, everything tied together in such a personal way. It was a real celebration of both Jordan and Jay as a couple, and winter in Colorado itself.
What a beautiful introduction to winter weddings in Colorado! This was my first Colorado wedding, and I cannot wait for many more this year! Thank you to Kelsey Booth Photography for having me along as her second shooter to help capture this stunning day.
