For Andrea and Brandon’s engagement session, we returned to the scene of their first date. Four years ago, they met up in the Presidio area of San Francisco, and proceeded to walk until they nearly dropped, exploring together from the Golden Gate Bridge all the way down to the Batteries. The date lasted hours, and their connection was obvious. I suppose once you’ve spent several hours together on your first date doing nothing but talking and getting a little bit lost, you’re bound to stick together forever.
It was so fun to be able to revisit the very area where they made their first connection. Together we wandered the Batteries to Bluffs Trail, stopping to take in the gorgeous northern California views of the bluffs, beaches, and ocean. We hiked down the trail to Marshall Beach. Everywhere you look there is something epic. But my favorite part about hanging out with these two was their vibrant, joyful energy. They were up for whatever I threw at them. They ran and skipped. They danced to no music. They splashed in the icy waves of the ocean.
The weather was typical bay area fashion: gray, windy, and right as we were finishing up a rain storm gusted through. I actually love weather like this sometimes because it makes for more dynamic photos. Though Andrea and Brandon needed no assistance in creating dynamic images. Their love and energy for each other emanates around them, and you can’t help but feel it when you’re with them.
I absolutely loved this engagement session and hanging out with these two. I live for creating images that combine a couple’s deep love for each other and excitement for their forever with the epic natural beauty of their surroundings. This day was all of that and more. When we wrapped up we grabbed burritos together at Andrea’s favorite Mexican restaurant she frequented in college, and began dreaming together about the fun we’ll certainly have again on their wedding day. Can’t wait for May 2020!
