Victoria and Francisco are an example of how perfectly opposites can attract. Victoria is bubbly, outgoing, and outspoken. Francisco is quiet and calm. While Victoria is from New Mexico, land of sunshine, Francisco is from Washington, where rainy days far outnumber the sunny ones. They met in a bar in Albuquerque, and while that’s not usually the great beginning to a love story, it was for them.
The southwest is a huge part of their lives together. They met here, they have moved around from Albuquerque to El Paso to Salt Lake City, and Victoria’s family all lives in New Mexico. So it was only natural that they plan a southwest wedding. (Although they did pay homage to Washington with their snowy engagement photos in Carnation.)
Victoria planned out the perfect classic New Mexico wedding. A Catholic wedding ceremony was very important to them and their families, so their ceremony took place at the beautiful Church of the Incarnation Catholic Church. They then held their reception under a tent on a field with stark Sandia Mountain views at Prairie Star Restaurant. Each guest received a wedding favor of biscochito cookies and a small bag of New Mexico Piñon Coffee. A traditional mariachi band played for their ceremony and during their cocktail hour. After their first dance, they led all of their guests into La Marcha, a New Mexican wedding tradition involving everyone following their leaders in a line around the venue.
In other words, this classic New Mexico wedding was a complete blast. (Of course.)
After La Marcha we ran off onto the Santa Ana Golf Course for some sunset portraits as the Sandia Mountains turned from pink to purple. The happy bride and groom had a chance for a few moments alone (aside from four people with cameras a few feet away, HA) to soak it all in and get those dreamy New Mexico sunset shots before reentering the party, gorging on enchiladas, and dancing the night away. It was perfect.
