Laura and Tim love getting away into the mountains together on their weekends. When you spend every weekday commuting to Seattle, the mountains tend to call your name. Leavenworth is a favorite destination for them to unwind. It’s the perfect getaway, no matter the season. The town of Leavenworth is the cutest little Bavarian village where you can walk around all the cute shops, grab a delicious bite, go to a wine tasting, and enjoy the perfect glass or mug of your favorite drink. It really feels like you’re escaping to a fairy-tale land, whether that’s in the winter when the city is totally decked out for Christmas, or in the summer when the patios and balconies call your name. When Laura told me how special this location is for them I was so excited for the excuse to get out there again myself. We made a day of it.
Tim proposed to Laura at the edge of Lake Wenatchee, just outside of Leavenworth, last summer. So, of course we had to return to that very spot–now all covered in snow–at the beginning of their engagement session. The snow was piled high all around Lake Wenatchee State Park, but we managed to wander up a couple trails and find some of the most gorgeous spots with the sun just glowing through the branches of the trees. After we got our fill of the great outdoors by the lake we made our way into town so that we could capture some portraits featuring the cute village in the background. Leavenworth is so picturesque it’s hard to go wrong anywhere on those streets, but I thought the perfect spot would be from the little park in town, where you can see the street behind them, a giant tree with the sun shining through all the lights strung on its branches, and the mountain behind it. Check, check, and check!
