I am getting SO excited about Dana and Nick’s wedding at Woodinville Lavender this summer. Getting together with them at their old stomping grounds in Tacoma for some spring engagement portraits at Point Defiance Park was the perfect thing to hold us all over until the big day arrives.
It was another one of those will-it-or-won’t-it-rain kind of spring days we’ve been having a lot of here this year. As I drove to meet them, the sun kept popping out, but by the time we got started it seemed the clouds were there to stay. We got a few raindrops, but nothing a real Seattlite can’t handle, and in the end the clouds made for an amazing sunset on the Ruston Way waterfront.
Dana and Nick are such a sweet couple. From spending just a couple hours with them, it is clear that it is Nick’s mission in life to make Dana laugh. And he succeeds. They have so many outtakes in their gallery where Nick is making a goofy face. Sometimes I keep those things in just for the couple because I know they’ll appreciate them even if they never share them anywhere ;)
What you can see here, though, are the moments right after those outtakes. The moments when Dana is laughing at her fiancé, and he breaks into a smile at his success. The moments when they both forget I’m even there, laugh together, and snuggle close.
I’ve never had the opportunity to shoot in Tacoma before, so I was thrilled when Dana told me that she and Nick used to live there, and they wanted to record their engagement where they started. It is so important to find a location that is special to you, and I was more than happy to have them show me around the giant and gorgeous Point Defiance Park and the waterfront along Ruston Way. The spring blooms were out, we found the most gorgeous cherry tree, and the clouds parted just enough to give us the loveliest colorful sunset—just before it started pouring on us again. Luckily, it was a wrap!
Dana and Nick, thank you for such a fun time. I can’t wait for more laughs and lavender blooms on your wedding day!
xoxo
