Gas Works Park Paint Powder Engagement Portraits | Kim & Marcus

Kim and Marcus’s first real date was at a concert at CenturyLink Field. It was a night of butterflies and that feeling of being on the edge of something great. When Marcus later decided to propose to Kim, he knew he had to incorporate that pivotal moment when they went from high school acquaintances to dating and finding love. He set up a day in Seattle with a group of their close friends, and as they walked by CenturyLink Field he asked Kim what she remembered about that first date. Then he got down on one knee, in front of all their friends and all the strangers around. And like true friends, they recorded the whole thing.

They knew they wanted Seattle to play a part in their engagement portraits as well, so Gas Works was a natural choice. There is nothing like having that Space Needle in the background to scream Seattle engagement portraits. They brought along their little girl Athena to be featured in many of their shots together. I love when a little one is incorporated in couples’ portraits, although it does often mean that they’ll steal the show ;)

At the end of their session, just as the clouds started to open up a bit on us, Kim and Marcus let loose with some colorful paint powder. Their wedding is peacock themed, so the blue and purple paint powder they splashed all over each other was the perfect finale to their session.

I am so excited to capture their special day in Bremerton this summer!
