The first time Heather and Jeremy met, they were walking down the aisle together… only at a different wedding. Their friends paired them together as bridesmaid and groomsman with no idea that they would later become Heather and Jeremy’s maid of honor and best man at their own wedding.
You know you have found the one for you when that person can make you laugh and share all of your hopes and dreams. It is clear that this is exactly who Heather and Jeremy are. Three years after meeting at that wedding, and spending the rest of the night driving around, not wanting it to end, here they were, the new bride and groom. The kind of bride and groom who, instead of choosing one or two colors for their wedding, choose all the colors, and make the theme all about bright wildflowers. (The bridesmaids each wore a flowered dress and held a bundle of assorted farmer’s market flowers, and the groom and groomsmen all donned floral ties.) The kind who will laugh through their entire first dance at their wedding reception.
It was a beautiful sunny day at Washington Park in Anacortes. A cool breeze swept in from the sea, taking the edge off the summer heat. Up on the cliff at Green Point, several rows of white chairs faced the water. Baskets of wildflowers decorated the aisle. It couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for a wedding.
Heather and Jeremy had their first look tucked away in some trees, before meeting their family and friends for portraits in front of the stunning Anacortes scenery. Their ceremony did not have a bad seat in the house. Everywhere you looked you could see the stark blue water and green hills in the distance.
Their reception followed at the Washington Park picnic ground, where friends gathered to eat barbeque and dance in the fading sunlight. At the end of the night, as the sun was setting, the bridal party headed down to the water for some final golden-hour pictures. No longer worried about formal portraits, keeping dresses clean and neckties tied, everyone braved the cold water and the sand and splashed in the water together. And I have to say, it was probably my very favorite moment of the entire day.
