If you’ve been following along with me for a while, you might recognize a couple faces from this session. Madison and Steven are two of our closest friends and last year for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta we met up to take some maternity portraits. Madison was within a couple weeks of her due date and we wanted to capture the essence of Albuquerque and its hot air balloons this time of year in the early fall for the final days before baby Greyson would make his appearance. I also just love the idea of incorporating the giant hot air balloons with the introduction of a new little person in the world. We vowed then to come back to the same spot a year later and capture portraits of the new family of three.

I have fallen quite in love with this tradition, and if the Wetherills are up for it, I think I’ll make it a thing we do every single year until we’re old. How does that sound, guys? (They’re up for it, don’t worry.)

Greyson is the cutest little one-year-old. I love his two bottom teeth popping in, his fascination for the balloons, and his even bigger fascination for the puppy that was playing with the sprinklers near us at the park. Madison and Steven are the most amazing parents, and it’s an inspiration to watch them raise their babe. I look forward to the day many years from now when we have multiple kids running around between us, all the best of friends, ready for the camera outside the Balloon Fiesta park in Albuquerque.
