Seattle Waterfront Maternity Portraits | Lisie & Josh

Two weeks ago now, I had the best morning hanging out at the waterfront with these two beautiful people, Lisie and Josh. Lisie sent me an email earlier that week asking if I could possibly squeeze in a session with them while they were visiting the Seattle area from Utah on an early babymoon. I said, heck yeah! WHEN?

The timing turned out to be perfect. We met on a glorious Thursday morning on a particularly quiet day at the waterfront, activity-wise. Before we were midway through, I had shed my scarf and jacket and the sun was poking out. Lisie and Josh are a good luck charm.

Seattle is a special place for Lisie and Josh because they lived in the area for about a year and a half. They wanted to record their time together back in this beautiful place they miss, as they expect their first baby in December.

It’s funny, being from New Mexico, any time I meet someone else from the four corners while outside of the southwest region, I feel we have a little something in common that can bond us. It’s like, oh, you’re from nearby, you kind of get where I come from! And so it felt extra special to be able to tour Seattle and chat about moving from southwest to northwest, and the best of both worlds.

Of course, we also chatted about their approaching parenthood. I marveled at Lisie’s energy walking uphill to Pike’s Place and back and forth across several docks at 7+ months pregnant. I giggled with them as they made terrified, we’re-going-to-be-parents faces, and then swooned as they stared so lovingly at each other and at Lisie’s beautiful growing belly. And of course, I captured it all for them.

I think I’ve fallen in love with maternity portrait photography. It is such an exciting time, filled with butterflies and hope and love. And I’ve definitely fallen in love with Lisie and Josh. Such a sweet couple in love. I know they will make amazing parents.

I’m so lucky to have this job. That I was able to capture this key time in this couple’s lives as expecting parents, revisiting the city they once called home. The smiles on their faces say it all. I can’t get enough of them.
