Seattle Courthouse Wedding | Ashlee & Alex

Seattle Courthouse Wedding | Ashlee & Alex

Ashlee and Alex are in the midst of a move across the country from Florida to Seattle. Now that is a long way, and a large change! They were in town for a few days to secure an apartment to live in and finalize moving details and, amid everything else, get married!! Ashlee explained to me that Seattle has a large piece of both her and Alex’s hearts, so they had to get married there.

We met outside the Seattle Municipal Court on a hot July afternoon. Ashlee had on a beautiful white dress and held a bouquet of flowers, while Alex wore a full suit. They had spent the past few days driving around a convertible rental car during the most beautiful sunny week Seattle had seen in a while, and their faces glowed from the sunshine and their excitement in their big move and their big commitment to each other.

The only witnesses to Ashlee and Alex’s wedding ceremony were the judge, Alex’s dad, her stepmom, and myself. It was intimate, cozy, and too quick, and emotions ran high as we stood on the balcony outside the courthouse, overlooking Smith Tower and Mount Rainier. I always feel privileged to be present at every single wedding, but something about being part of such a small group in such an official yet beautiful setting humbled me in such a way that I almost felt I didn’t deserve to be there.

Ashlee and Alex, it was a complete honor to capture your first moments as husband and wife, and I wish you the best of luck with your long journey to move to your new home in Seattle. I can certainly relate! Let’s go get coffee sometime, when everything settles down?

xoxo
